Kappa Delta Foundation Presents Donation to Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU

MEMPHIS, Tennessee — On Sept. 28, 2019, Kappa Delta celebrated its 98-year partnership with the Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU (CHoR) with a check for $25,000 from the Kappa Delta Foundation. Sarah Bennett, an initiate of Kappa Delta’s Alpha Pi Chapter at William & Mary and chapter advisory board member for Theta Mu-Richmond, presented the annual donation to the children’s hospital at the Four Miles for Smiles event in Richmond, Virginia.

Fifty-five Kappa Delta members participated in the four-mile run/walk to support children and families at the CHoR. Following the run/walk and check presentation, Kappa Delta collegians and alumnae took a tour of the CHoR Brook Road Campus.

The foundation’s support has enhanced the hospital’s functionality by providing funding for features such as a playground in the hospital’s courtyard, the Kappa Delta Giggle Zone at the entrance of the hospital as well as infrastructure medical needs. CHoR is one of KD’s national historical philanthropies and has benefitted from more than $2.2 million in support since 1921.

Established in 1981, the Kappa Delta Foundation is a 501(c)3 organization whose mission is to secure funds for the educational, leadership and charitable purposes of Kappa Delta Sorority, a national organization for women with more than 271,000 members, 168 active collegiate chapters and 224 alumnae chapters nationwide. The foundation is supported by member donations and bequests that fund programs and initiatives such as scholarships, internships, grants and more.
