Coffee & Confidence: Every Day BCIA
“It’s not hard to make decisions when you know what your values are.” Roy E. Disney
October is a month full of Kappa Delta celebrations. From members experiencing Initiation for the first time to celebrating our Founders Day, there are many special moments for KDs in the coming weeks.
When we take time to reflect on the history and meaning of our values, it allows us to truly appreciate who we are, as well as consider how we are living our values every day – not just during Initiation!
Every decision we make tells the world around us something about what we value. From how we treat strangers to how we show up for class, we are sending a message. It’s up to us to determine what that message is. As sorority women, and as Kappa Deltas, we have made a commitment to send positive, confidence-building messages. We value sisterhood, truth and leadership. We build confidence in each other and inspire action in the world around us.
Spend this month talking with your chapter, fellow alumnae and friends about what it looks like to live our values every day. How can we show our campus and community what Kappa Deltas value without needing to tell them? Below are a few ideas!
- Hold yourselves and each other accountable. Challenge yourselves to be your very best in all situations. Build others up, live with purpose and make good decisions. Remind your sisters of our commitment to friendship and building confidence. Encourage one another to reach your full potential.
- Complete and discuss a personal values assessment. How do your personal values line up with Kappa Delta’s values? How do Kappa Delta’s values line up with the values of your workplace? There are many parallels between our personal values and the values of those things to which we commit ourselves. Spend some time exploring those connections.
- Try something new. You gain confidence every time you step outside your comfort zone! Take a new yoga class, cook a new recipe or attend a class at an art studio. Show up in new situations with confidence and a willingness to learn.
- Reflect on our history. Share bits of our Ritual or excerpts from Ordinary Miracles with the chapter and discuss the similarities between our founders’ lives and our own. Learn about the history of your initiate chapter.
Kappa Delta asks that we become our very best selves. This month, let’s dig deeper and learn how we can answer that call. Let’s build confidence and inspire action every single day.
