Orthopaedic Research Internships
Karen Hasty, PhD (Alpha Epsilon-Tennessee), is an acclaimed professor of orthopaedic surgery at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis offering the opportunity for Kappa Delta collegians to serve as summer interns from Mon. June 13 - Fri. July 22, 2016. Interns work on a basic arthritis research project in a research laboratory from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. daily, under the supervision of faculty and trained research personnel. Additionally, interns participate in a weekly research data conference and journal club and attend Orthopaedic Surgery training conferences given by UTHSC faculty from Campbell Clinic, an internationally recognized orthopaedic clinic.
The Orthopaedic Research Internship is a great addition to KD's long-standing support of orthopaedic research through the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.
Upperclassmen with science or biomedical engineering backgrounds are preferred applicants. Housing is provided by the foundation and interns receive a $1,000 expense reimbursement during the internship.
Applicants must submit an application and recommendation by March 1, 2016 and are announced late April. Please note: All application and recommendation forms must be completed online. Handwritten forms will not be accepted.
