Dear KD Sisters,
It may seem that it is a long time until the next national convention election in June, but the Transitional Nominating Committee has been diligently working to complete the first stage of the transition to the new nominating process adopted by the National Council.
In the new process there are many parts that are different than they have been in the past. The first change is the application. It now has three parts that must be submitted by the February 2, 2011 deadline: an application form, an Ethics Statement, and a Conflict of Interest Statement. All three are required in order to be considered for a National Council position. Another change is that the applications cannot be sent to the headquarters. They are sent directly to the chairman to protect your confidentiality. Confidentiality is very important in this new process and the Transitional Nominating Committee members have all signed confidentiality agreements.
Please also note that you can be nominated by a sister, chapter, or alumnae association as in the past, but now you may also self-submit. We welcome all applications and appreciate your interest in serving your sorority.
All of the details of the new process can be found in the Policies and Procedures. Also here is a timeline that gives you specific dates and general information, the Application Form, the Ethics Statement, the Conflict of Interest Statement, and a set of Questions and Answers about the new process. Even after all of that, please feel free to contact the chairman with any questions you might have.
There is an article on the new process in the current Angelos and will be another in the winter issue. It is very important to the National Council that all members are aware of the new system for nominating its leaders.
The three part application should be printed from the website and may be submitted at any time until February 2, 2011. The National Council set the Policies and Procedures and then charged the committee with implementing the policies. That is our responsibility and our privilege.
Please consider serving your Kappa Delta.
Sincerely,
Lynda Cook, Chairman
Committee: Susan Stockton, Diane Vaughan, Monteigne Mathison, Cheryl Erman, and Leta Gorman
