Kappa Delta Sorority's 60th Biennial National Convention
More than 950 Kappa Deltas and guests attended the 60th Biennial National Convention in Boston, July 27-July 1. With the theme Field of Dreams, attendees were entertained with baseball-themed programs and inspired by speakers who dared to dream big.
The opening session, A League of Their Own, introduced Kappa Delta’s starting line-up – the National Council – who appeared on stage against a video background showing them in action on the ball field. (View video below.) On-screen baseball cards revealed their KD “stats” while songs like We are the Champions pumped up the audience.
While the National Council’s baseball skills may be in question, fortunately for Kappa Deltas, this dream team was batting a thousand when it came to leadership, which was evident in the State of the Sorority video shown to members.
Several awards and recognitions were presented during the event including:
Order of the Emerald
Order of the Pearl
Corre Anding Stegall Collegiate Leadership Awards
Distinguished Service Award
Hall of Honor
Woman of Achievement Award
In addition to recognizing these Kappa Delta MVPs, collegiate and alumnae chapter, chapter advisory boards and house corporations were recognized for their achievements with coveted biennial awards. Kappa Delta’s highest awards went to:
Council Award – Epsilon-Louisiana State
Marjorie Rowles Stakes Outstanding Alumnae Chapter Award – Richardson/Plano, Texas
Joan Hovde Haines Outstanding House Corporation Award – Alpha Epsilon-Tennessee/Knoxville
Outstanding Chapter Advisory Board Award – Epsilon-Louisiana State

Other Kappa Delta leaders were recognized during the Kappa Delta Foundation’s Leaders and Lasting Legacies breakfast that was held on Sunday morning. The event included the recognition of major donors, the presentation of scholarships and the announcement of internships and other programs supported by the Kappa Delta Foundation.
The Kappa Deltas in Boston found their convention dreams coming true with motivating programming and opportunities to experience Kappa Delta’s strong national sisterhood. Last but by no means least, National Convention provided the opportunity for the sorority to conduct its business. The 2013-2015 Nominating Committee was appointed, and delegates voted on proposed changes to the National Bylaws and elected the 2013-2015 National Council.
